How to set up a rapid inclusion of the dark mode in OS X Yosemite
Tips Makradar / / December 19, 2019
One of the new features OS X Yosemite It is a dark mode, which change the appearance of the menu bar and dock from light to dark. This feature proved to be quite popular and many users use it, but to go every time in setting and include dark mode tick is not very convenient, so I'll tell you about a quick and convenient way of his inclusion.
As you probably can guess, this trick is based on the use of hot keys which press, of course, faster than going to the settings and enable the desired checkboxes. We will need the terminal and a tricky team, including shortcut for the dark mode, but it is actually very simple here.
- run Terminal from the folder Applications / Utilities (Or through Spotlight) and enter the following command:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist _HIEnableThemeSwitchHotKey -bool true
- Press Enter and enter your administrator password to run the command
- Finish the user's session. Click ▸ End session
- After entering we earn shortcut ⌘⌥^T (Cmd + Opt + Ctrl + T)
Everything. Now we have a dark mode can be instantly enabled using the hotkey and just turn it off immediately. If you remember, when at WWDC Craig Federighi showed for the first time the dark mode, he included it is using shortcuts. Maybe it has something to do with this team.
The hotkey will be active in the system for as long as you do not turn it off. This is done using the same command, but with false key. When you need to disable the shortcut dark mode, enter the following command in the Terminal:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist _HIEnableThemeSwitchHotKey -bool false
As before, the changes will take effect when you restart your session.
I almost forgot, if you turn a little dark regime of shortcuts, you can go ahead and set up its inclusion Scheduled.
