How I learned to wake up early
Tips / / December 19, 2019
I never liked the morning. Neither the school nor the university. I am one of the so-called owls who like to wake up for dinner and go to sleep, meeting dawn. I find it difficult to prove that the owls and larks - it's one of the myths that we have imposed on ourselves, but I I tell you how I trained myself to wake up early in the morning and did not feel at the same time as the 80 kilograms of rotten vegetables.
I do not want to go into scientific definitions, calculate their biorhythms and other very useful, but complicated things. I just want to tell you about a little experiment that I conducted and which, fortunately, ended successfully.
My sleep schedule the past few years was formed as follows: 10 months of the year, when there was a study, I woke up at 7 am and went to sleep when necessary. This could happen at 11 pm and could have happened in the morning. Student life, you know.
It is no wonder that by the weekend, my only wish was to get to bed and never with it does not stand up. So I lived, five days a week experiencing hell in the morning, and the remaining two days enjoying the holiday, which ended so soon.
But everything was to change. And the changes could come a lot sooner if I'd decided before, but it seemed to me that it is absolutely normal - to feel like shit in the morning. In the end, half of the world experiencing the same thing.
Not sure that this brilliant idea occurred to me it or I once found her, and she was postponed, but in any case it worked. So, down to business.
Experiment
I worked out only two rules. First, determine the time at which I want to wake up everyone day. For me it was 7:00 in the morning. Secondly, I decided to go to bed only when I want to. No matter 9pm or 3am, when I'm not sleeping, I'm going to read, watch movies, or run, but do not lie in bed thinking about brown table, what I saw once in a cafe, dolphins, crickets, who makes strange noises, and that you need to get up early tomorrow, but I can not to fall asleep.
It was hard the first few days. Cover up when you really want to do this - it's great, but waking up after 4-5 hours of sleep - not very. I decided to listen to their feelings, and make sure that when I want to go to sleep. Initially time varied from 11 o'clock to 2 o'clock. Just a few days later, I was sleepy before and I already went in 10-11 hours. Surprisingly, my "owl" instincts have disappeared, and wake up at 7 am was comfortable enough. Of course, the first few minutes in the morning was heavy, but then everything was formed.
Moreover, I had much more energy, and most importantly, time. Whereas previously I could not find time for personal affairs, it is now in my possession was a few free hours I could spend as you wish.
conclusion
To summarize, and especially for those who do not like to read long texts, and immediately seeks to get to the point:
- Determine the time at which you want to wake up every day.
- Go to sleep only when you want it, and do not pay attention to the time.
- Before going to bed is not engaged in active employment, it is better read a book or watch a relaxing movie.
I almost forgot: in the time of your choice will have to wake up, even on weekends. However, two weeks later it will cease to bother you. This simple experiment helped me to retrain from an owl in a lark (if they still exist), and hopefully help you. I still listen to your own feelings and write about them Twitter. If you're interested, read.
If you decide to run an experiment on yourself, tell us in the comments that came out of it!
