Practical argumentation in negotiations
In a work environment, we resort to argumentation almost every day - we prove our point of view, debate with the position of another person and look for an opportunity to reach an agreement. To do this professionally, we will guide you through all stages of the negotiation process - from preparation to dealing with criticism - and give you the necessary tools.
Topic 1. Preparing for negotiations (60 minutes)
— Formulating the goal of the negotiations and checking it for achievability

— Selection of negotiation strategy, position for exchange and alternative meeting scenarios
Topic 2. Argumentation. Preparation of thesis and arguments (90 minutes)
— Selection of a thesis to achieve the goal

Topic 3. Presentation of argument (50 minutes)
— Rules for holding meetings
— Effective structures for position presentation
Topic 4. Practicing criticism (45 minutes)

Practical tasks
Three homework assignments for your work case to complete independently. You will apply the course tools and receive feedback from the reviewer.

Workshops
Our course will include 4 workshops with a total duration of 8 hours. Workshops are group meetings with a mentor, they take place on the Zoom platform.
The first three workshops last 1.5–2 hours. You will use them to practice the tools from the lessons.
The fourth final workshop lasts 3 hours. Here you will prepare and conduct negotiations with other students as part of a case study. As a result, you will receive recommendations and feedback from your mentor.
Workshop 1. Onboarding (0.5 hours), preparation for negotiations (1.5 hours)
You will understand how to correctly set the goal of negotiations and prepare a meeting plan taking into account the position of the other party.
Workshop 2. Argument structure (1.5 hours)
You will practice convincingly presenting your position in negotiations.
Workshop 3. Presentation of arguments (2 hours)
You will use techniques from the course to defend your position. You will practice distinguishing and neutralizing the manipulations of your interlocutor.
Workshop 4. Simulation of negotiations using cases (3 hours)
Apply the course tools to solve a business case - negotiations. In small groups, prepare and conduct a meeting to achieve the set goal.
