The vast majority of people called themselves happy, but they also noted that there were fewer happy people around.
All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM) presented results of a regular survey on happiness. The latest survey was conducted in October. It turned out that 81% of the people surveyed - or 8 out of 10 people - can call themselves happy to one degree or another.
37% of respondents called themselves absolutely happy, and 44% - somewhat happy. Moreover, in 2014, only 25% of respondents spoke about absolute happiness. 16% called themselves unhappy, and 3%, according to their own estimates, are constantly depressed.
As in previous surveys, people with high incomes more often consider themselves happy to one degree or another: level of happiness in this group was a record 93% (among the middle-income - 82%, among Russians with poor financial situation - 54%).
At the same time, people’s confidence that they are surrounded mostly by happy people, on the contrary, has weakened - back in March of this year, 42% of respondents thought so, and in October - already 36%. According to VTsIOM, the trend is this: people believe that they are happy as before, but there are fewer happy people around them.
