Apple has announced the finalists for the 2023 App Store Awards. These are the best apps of the year

Every year, Apple selects the best apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV as part of the App Store Awards. 2023 was no exception, and the jury has already prepared list of finalists.

iPhone App of the Year

• AllTrails is an application for lovers of running, cycling and hiking that helps build a route and track results.
• Duolingo - legendary service for language learning with an owl mascot, which many users are afraid of disappointing.
• Flighty — a service for tracking flights with the function of predicting delays due to weather conditions.

iPad App of the Year

• Concepts — digital sketchbook for drawing in vector and taking notes.
• DaVinci Resolve — a powerful video editor for video processing, audio mixing and creating visual effects.
• Prêt-à-Makeup — an application in which you can experiment with makeup: apply cosmetics with different colors and textures to the face chart, choosing interesting combinations before working on your face.

Mac App of the Year

• Linearity Curve - a graphic editor with AI functions, formerly called Vectornator.

• Photomator - a photo editor from the creators of Pixelmator, a competitor to Lightroom with support for more than 600 RAW photo formats.
• Portal - a program with white noise and beautiful visual design, the iOS version of Lifehacker is already told.

Apple Watch App of the Year

• Planny — a to-do planner that combines a task list with a calendar.
• SmartGym is a fitness application that creates personal training plans and helps track their effectiveness.
• Tide Guide - an application for tracking tides, sunset times and weather conditions - useful for surfers, those who like to swim on the beach or just sit by the water.

Apple TV App of the Year

• Bugsnax - a game about a journey to an island with mysterious creatures - tasty bugs.
• FitOn is a workout and weight loss assistant app that offers free exercise videos and personalized workout plans.
• MUBI — a streaming service with high-quality films from recognized directors and rising cinema stars.

iPhone Game of the Year

• Afterplace is an open world indie adventure full of dark secrets, treasures and monsters.
• Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based role-playing game from the Chinese company HoYoverse, known for Genshin Impact.
• Vampire Survivors is a survival roguelike that was released on PC in early access in 2021, and became a hit on Steam in early 2022.

iPad Game of the Year

• Eggy Party is an action game in the style of Fall Guys with simple and stupid tasks that need to be completed in the company of other players.
• Lost in Play is an adventure with puzzle elements in which the player needs to help a brother and sister travel through a fantasy world in search of a way home.
• Pocket City 2 - a sequel to the popular city-planning simulator - now in 3D.

Mac Game of the Year

• ELEX II is a vintage role-playing game with an open post-apocalyptic world.
• Lies of P — soulslice based on the fairy tale “Pinocchio”.
• Return to Monkey Island is the long-awaited finale to the classic game series.

Apple Arcade Game of the Year

• Cityscapes: Sim Builder is a city-planning simulator in which the player acts as the mayor of a city and must make decisions that improve the lives of citizens.
• Hello Kitty Island Adventure — a cozy and cute life simulator with a popular mascot.
• stitch. — a casual puzzle in which you need to embroider stitch by stitch by numbers.

Cultural influence

The nomination recognized applications and games that help change the world for the better.

• balance - Menopause Support is an app that helps you track menopause symptoms and learn more about the condition.
• Copilot - service for budget planning and tracking expenses.
• Endling is a role-playing game in which a mother fox must fight for the survival of herself and her children after an environmental disaster.
• Finding Hannah is a hidden object game about a girl who has a good job and a comfortable life, but she doesn’t feel happy. Together with the player, she will have to get to know herself better and understand what it means to be happy.
• How to Say Goodbye is a game about the journey of a man who turned into a ghost and found himself in a world full of disoriented spirits.
• Pok Pok Playroom - a children's game based on Montessori method.
• Proloquo is an app designed for non-verbal children and adults to learn alternative communication methods.
• Rebel Girls is an app that offers inspiring audio stories about great women, including Frida Kahlo, Greta Thunberg and Malala Yousafzai.
• Too Good To Go is an app that allows you to buy expiring food from restaurants or stores that would otherwise have to be thrown away at the end of the day at a big discount.
• Unpacking - a meditative game - a moving simulator in which the player, over the course of 8 moves, learns about the life of a character who never appears on the screen. In 2022 the game received two BAFTA Games awards at once.
