Google will begin deleting inactive accounts in December
Miscellaneous / / November 09, 2023
Now is the time to check your old email.
In May Google announced, which will delete accounts that have not had any activity for two years or more. Along with the account, data in all Google services will be deleted - from documents on Drive to events in Calendar. The big cleanup will begin in December.
The first to go under the knife will be accounts that were active only on the day of creation - essentially, disposable accounts. But accounts from which videos were published on YouTube will not be affected, even if they have not been logged in for several years.
If you have an old Google account that you'd like to keep, although you don't use it often, now is the time to use it and reset the inactivity counter. It is enough to do any of these actions:
- read a letter via Gmail;
- log in to Google Drive;
- watch the video on YouTube;
- use “Search”;
- Log in to a third-party service with a Google account.
It is important to note that the changes will only affect personal accounts. Corporate and school accounts will not be deleted.
