Strikes are over: Actors Guild and studios agree

Although the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike ended as recently as September 27, 148 days after the protest began, the Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) was still on strike. Now the actors have come to an agreement with the studios and announced to end the strike on November 9. It ended up lasting 118 daysâthe longest actor protest in Hollywood history.
The final stage of discussion of new terms between SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) began on October 24. As a result, the 17-member SAG-AFTRA negotiating committee approved a new contract that will become standard in Hollywood for the next 3 years. Its main changes:
- Increasing the minimum wage by 7%;
- New system for deductions of income from streaming services;
- Increase in pension and medical contributions;
- Protecting actors and their work from artificial intelligence.
The contract will be finalized in the coming weeks, but since the end of the strike has already been announced, the actors can return to work now. By
