Samsung introduced Gauss, an AI for generating text, images and code. It will be built into the Galaxy S24

At the Samsung AI Forum 2023 conference in Seoul, Samsung presented model for Gauss generative AI. It was named after the mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, who described the law of normal distribution, which is actively used in machine learning.

Samsung Gauss is a completely internal development of Samsung Research. For now, it is being tested only by employees, but in the future it will become available to the general public in new company products. The model combines three blocks:

• Samsung Gauss Language — a model capable of understanding natural language and generating responses. Its goal is to increase productivity and help with basic tasks like composing emails, editing documents, writing reports, translating and writing texts. Implemented into a specific device, it will be able to offer more convenient and intuitive control.
• Samsung Gauss Code - specializes in code and provides the code.i assistant, which will be used in Samsung itself. The model will allow you to easily and quickly develop programs through an interactive interface. The model will also be able to describe the code (it is not specified which one - written by Gauss Code or proposed by the user).

• Samsung Gauss Image — Responsible for creating and editing images. It will help you change the style of the picture, improve the quality of the image and add objects to an existing illustration. Generation from scratch using a text description is also supported.

All three generative models will be able to run entirely on the device to protect the security of user data.

The first devices with Samsung Gauss support should be released in the coming months. Probably, flagship smartphones will be among the first Galaxy S24, the announcement of which is expected in January 2024.
