Performance of the system unit in a laptop case.
In the Geekbench 6 benchmark database appeared the first test results of the Apple M3 Max processor, which equipped latest MacBook Pro models. The 16-inch version of the laptop showed results comparable to a desktop one Mac Pro with M2 Ultra processor.
Test results in Geekbench 6:
- M2 Ultra - 21,182 points (Mac Pro, average);
- M3 Max — 21,084 points (MacBook Pro, highest score);
- M2 Max - 14,495 points (MacBook Pro, average);
- M1 Max - 12,185 points (MacBook Pro, average);
- M3 - 11,836 (MacBook Pro, highest score).
According to Geekbench, the M3 Max in the new MacBook Pro is about 45% faster than the M2 Max chip in the previous generation laptop. This is roughly in line with Apple's claim that the new chip is 50% faster than the previous one. And the standard M3 chip was 20% faster than the M2.
Geekbench 6 benchmarks are a useful guide, but actual processor performance may vary. In addition, there is not enough data yet for average estimates in the benchmark. The numbers may change in the near future.
Let us remind you that the Apple M3 Max, developed using TSMC’s 3nm process technology, includes 16 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores. The chip supports up to 128 GB of combined memory. The first devices with it were MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″.
