Yandex will delete inactive accounts

"Yandex" announced new policy for working with inactive accounts. Since October, Yandex ID users who had not logged into their account for more than two and a half years began receiving messages about the need to confirm the relevance of their profile and increase its protection.

The security service will send the user several alerts over the course of a month. If there is no activity on the account, it will be deleted without the possibility of recovery. Avoiding deletion is simple: just log into your account through any Yandex service or perform any action: send a letter, upload a file to Disk, write a review in Maps.

Yandex notes that the new policy should increase the protection of users’ personal data. Old, no longer needed accounts are often protected with weak passwords, making them easier to hack and gain access to personal information or used to send spam.

If you are reminded of an old account that is no longer needed, but some information may be useful, you can

unload from it all the data and delete him on his own.
