The most profitable film genres named

Horror films remain profitable regardless of quality, while bad dramas only bring losses.
Reddit user dpee123 determined the most profitable film genres. To do this, he used statistics on budgets and fees from 1971 to the present day. As it turns out, horror is the best place to invest. But blockbusters, dramas, comedies and cartoons often become box office bombs.
Although horror films tend to make less money at the box office, they still break even with very little production costs. This is where their profitability lies. The author of the analysis demonstrated his findings in several diagrams.
The first infographic shows how a film's budget affects box office receipts. Thus, low-quality dramas are usually in the red. Bad comedies are, at best, non-existent. But horror films always remain profitable, even if it is a “B” category picture.
The second and third images show average costs and profits. From these data it follows that making horror films is cheaper than other genres, while their return on investment can reach almost 200%. Under favorable circumstances, you can also make good money from comedies, blockbusters, family and adventure films. Science fiction fares the worst.
The Redditor also revealed the most successful films in history in terms of costs and receipts. Among horror films, this was “The Blair Witch Project: Coursework from the Other World” (The Blair Witch Project, 1999), dramas – “Bobby and Rose” (Aloha Bobby and Rose, 1975), comedies - Pink Flamingos (1972), cartoons - Bambi (1942), and blockbusters - Godzilla vs. Kong vs. Kong, 2021).
