Android will get a "repair mode" to protect personal data

Google works working on adding a “repair mode” to the standard version of Android. This will allow you to avoid resetting your smartphone to factory settings before sending it in for service.
Smartphones have long become quite durable and reliable, but sometimes even the most expensive models require repairs. At the same time, for many users they are the main repository of personal data. Therefore, any need to transfer them into the wrong hands can be not only troublesome, but also stressful.
The company aims to make the process less stressful. "Repair Mode" will allow users to take their phones to repair shops without having to erase any data or create a backup. When activated, service technicians will not have access to applications and sensitive information, but will still be able to test system functionality for diagnostic purposes.
To enter and exit it, you will need a password for the lock screen. Outsiders will not be able to deactivate it even after rebooting the device.
Samsung launched a similar function last year. Google plans to roll it out in December, but only on Pixel smartphones. Only after this will it begin to appear on other Android devices.
