YouTuber Captain Gizmo often visualizes all sorts of statistics. In a new video, he showed how the most popular emoji have changed - based on the analysis of billions of tweets that Emojipedia constantly conducts.
The author took statistics for 10 years as a basis. It turned out that in March 2013 the top 15 were as follows:

If a decade ago Twitter was crying with laughter, then in 2023 a cup of coffee suddenly appeared at the top. In between, you can see how the popularity of the 😭 emoji jumped in 2020 and 2021 - then the whole world was in quarantine due to coronavirus. They also noted in the comments that 🍑 periodically joins smiling, crying and upset faces - probably when the Internet is especially excited.
