WhatsApp for Android now supports passwordless login
Miscellaneous / / October 17, 2023
WhatsApp users on Android can say goodbye to two-factor authentication via SMS: now the messenger supports Passkey technology. It allows you to use a smartphone passcode, fingerprint or facial scan to quickly confirm your identity and log into your account in an application or website.
Previously, passkey support was tested in the beta version of WhatsApp on Android, but now it is gradually rolling out to all users of the stable application. If this option is not yet available to you, you will have to wait: it may take several months for the feature to be fully distributed. It is not yet known when a similar feature will be added to the iOS version of the messenger.
Passkey has been rapidly gaining popularity lately: a week earlier Google did login without a password is enabled by default on all accounts - and suggested setting up access for everyone who has not yet done so.
