New Chrome feature shows how much RAM each tab is using
Miscellaneous / / October 16, 2023
Google Chrome has a new feature that allows users to see the amount of RAM used by any open tab. Moreover, it works in real time, just hover over the tab title at the top of the browser.
This feature is currently being tested in the stable version of Chrome with select users. It is designed to help identify resource-intensive web pages and distribute the load more efficiently.
This new feature does not contain any active elements - only numbers. For more detailed work with processes, there is still a built-in task manager, which can be opened using the Shift + Esc key combination or through “Additional tools” in the browser settings.
If you don't have this feature in the stable version of Chrome yet, you can try to enable it manually. To do this, copy into the address bar Chrome://flags, press enter and turn on Show memory usage in hovercards. You will then need to restart the browser.
