The App Store is taking EPIK by storm. This AI App Takes You to a 90s School Yearbook
Miscellaneous / / October 11, 2023
Out of 10 selfies, 60 photos in a variety of images. You can become a local rock star, nerd, athlete, skateboarder and more.
Photo editor EPIK came out first place in popularity in the App Store. It went viral thanks to a new feature that allows you to create nostalgic pictures from yearbook in the style of the 90s.
EPIK uses AI for this and many other functions. A selfie-based neural network creates 60 different images of the user’s face. Each frame will be unique - with different clothes, hairstyles and accessories, as if the pictures were taken at different times. The only thing that unites all the shots is the style of the photo shoot from the 90s.
In the app, the feature is called AI Yearbook. To use it, you just need to select from 8 to 12 selfies with a clear face, different angles and backgrounds, and then indicate your gender.
Here are the results we got.
In most cases, the footage is truly impressive. It's like being transported into some American movie from the 90s, where you are a college student - a nerd, the star of the football team, the local bully or the guitarist in the school band.
It may be difficult to recognize yourself in some shots, but there were few of them in the selection.
There are also problems with the proportions of the face and body, artifacts or blurred eyes, but most of the 60 photos are definitely successful.
The EPIK app is available on the App Store and Google Play. But trying the AI Yearbook feature on Android will be problematic, since photo processing is paid. In the case of iPhone You can pay from your account mobile phone: 389 rubles for processing within 24 hours or 599 for a two-hour wait.
If you try, share your best shots in the comments.
