Sony introduced a thinner PlayStation 5 with a removable disk drive

Sony suddenly announced a new version of PlayStation 5 - more compact. It will also be available in versions with and without a disk drive, but in the second case it will be possible to connect a special removable disk receiver.

In terms of dimensions, the updated PS5 is approximately 30% more compact than its predecessors. And in weight they are 18-24% lighter, depending on the version. The model with a disk drive now weighs 3.2 kg.

There are no changes in terms of performance. This thinner version is just as powerful as the previous one. The volume of built-in memory was 1 TB.

The consoles will go on sale in November 2023. The price for the version with an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive will be $500, and the Digital version will cost $450. The drive can be purchased for $80.

Sony will also release a new vertical stand priced at $30, which will also fit older versions of the console.
