Yandex Browser has learned to briefly retell videos

Yandex Browser now has a feature for brief retelling of Russian-language videos. It will allow you to quickly familiarize yourself with the content and understand whether it is worth watching the entire video.

The technology works like this: first, the algorithm turns the audio track into text using speech recognition, and then YandexGPT breaks it into meaningful fragments. The neural network summarizes each of them and indicates the timecode of the beginning of the blocks.

The new feature will help content authors create a video description with timing - you can add keywords to it. And users can click on the timecode to immediately go to the fragment of interest.

You can also use retelling to create a list of theses so that you can see the sequence of actions before your eyes. This is especially true with long videos - the function works with videos up to 4 hours long.

To get a retelling, you need to open the video and click on the “Brief retelling” button. The function works not only in the browser, but also in “Search” and the 300.ya.ru service.
