Samsung Company presented the second version of its Galaxy SmartTag item tracker. If the first model was diamond-shaped, the second one received an oblong shape with a large hole. It has become more convenient to attach the gadget to the belts of bags and backpacks, and also to carry it in a keychain.
The reliability of the gadget has also improved. Metal elements have appeared in its design, and the body itself is now protected from moisture and dust according to the IP67 standard. This makes it possible to use the tracker to track your pet - just attach the accessory to the collar. The smartphone app even has a special movement control mode.
For search, both Bluetooth Low Energy and UWB (ultra-wideband) are used, which allows you to search for a tracker with the Compass View function - using the arrows on the smartphone screen (with compatible flagships).
The Lost Mode function now allows you to quickly find the owner of the beacon by reading his contacts by touching the smartphone. This technology works via NFC. Without recharge, Galaxy SmartTag 2 operates up to 500 days in normal mode and up to 700 with energy saving enabled.
Such beacons are connected only to Samsung smartphones. When you change your phone, Galaxy SmartTag 2 automatically re-syncs your current Galaxy device with your account. All data is still encrypted.
Galaxy SmartTag 2 comes in black and white colors and costs $30 (≈3,000 rubles). You can add a silicone case to your purchase.
