How to Create a Contact Poster in iOS 17
Miscellaneous / / October 05, 2023
You can set up cards for other users as well as for yourself.
The next iOS update has radically changed the user experience and brought a lot of innovations. One of the most noticeable are contact posters, which have replaced regular photos. Similar to custom lock screen styles, you can now add full screen covers to any phone book callers and have this appear on calls.
In the same way, you can customize your own card by setting the desired style and adding the necessary information. It will be seen by all people with iOS 17 who call your number. If the user has their own poster, it will replace the one you created, but you will still have the opportunity to choose your preferred one from several. In addition, thanks to the NameDrop function, these cards can be quickly exchanged like business cards by simply bringing two iPhones closer to each other.
How to Create a Contact Poster in iOS 17
Launch the “Phone” application, on the “Contacts” tab, find the person you need and open information about him. Click Contact Photos & Poster.
Tap “+” and choose what you want to use to create your poster: a photo from your camera or gallery, a Memoji, or a monogram with your initials.
Regardless of your preferences, you can apply almost the same effects to the cover. It will look like this.
By pinching your fingers, adjust the scale: you can either zoom in or out of the photo (in the latter case, iOS automatically complete the missing background). Swipe left-right to select a filter and its color. By touching the name, adjust the font style and design. Click the "Done" button at the top of the screen when you're done editing.
View the poster preview and click on the “Continue” button. Crop an existing photo to use for your thumbnail, or select a different one and click Continue again.
Tap the Done button to complete editing. The poster will appear in the contact card. If you click “Contact Photos and Poster” again, you can add another cover.
Switch between them with horizontal swipes, and swipe up to delete.
How to create your own poster in iOS 17
Setting up your own cover image to be displayed to other people during a call is done in the same way. To get to the editing menu, open “Phone” → “Contacts”, and then tap the “My Card” tile and select the already familiar “Photo and Contact Poster” item.
Click "Edit" and customize the poster as you wish. In the same menu you can specify who will see your cover. By default, this is everyone in your contacts list, but if you select Always Ask, iOS will require your permission. In this case, the first time you communicate with a person, iOS will display a request, and if you agree, then the next time you call the subscriber will see your poster and data.
