Vivaldi browser released on iPhone and iPad
Miscellaneous / / September 28, 2023
5 years have passed since the release of the Android version.
The Vivaldi browser, created in 2015 by the former CEO of Opera, is finally became available on Apple mobile devices.
Considering that all browsers for iOS must run on the WebKit engine, the developers had to create an application for the iPhone almost from scratch. This explains the delay in the release of the iOS version, while the browser has been available on Android since 2018.
Vivaldi for iOS offers a tab bar similar to the desktop version, so you can see what else you have open at a glance. You can disable this feature and return to a single page view.
The tab switcher gives you access to public, private, synced, and recently closed tabs. A long press on the tab switcher will quickly open a new tab or close an active one.
As in other browsers, bookmarks are available on the start page for quick access to your favorite sites. You can add any pages to this section.
The browser also has a note-taker and a reading list, and both sections are synchronized between all devices with the same Vivaldi account. Other features include blocking ad trackers, the ability to switch between search engines and change the application icon.
In parallel with the versions for iPhone, a browser for iPad was also released. It features a sidebar that gives you quick access to bookmarks, reading list, browsing history and notes. Otherwise, the application capabilities are identical.
