Yandex Browser has learned to generate subtitles in any videos in Russian

This function comes in handy when you need to be quiet and don’t have headphones at hand.
Yandex Browser can now create subtitles for videos and broadcasts in Russian using the built-in neural network. This works on any website, including YouTube, other video hosting sites, social networks, TV channel pages, and so on.
Subtitles are turned on with one button, which will be displayed at the top of the screen. In the settings, you can choose the font size and change the background transparency so that the text does not merge with the image in the background.
Yandex noted that while developing this technology, the company’s specialists solved a difficult problem: significantly reduced the amount of RAM on the user's computer, which is consumed when generating subtitles. The original version of the neural network used 800 MB and created too much load. After optimization, this volume was reduced to 150 MB.
Subtitle generation works in Yandex Browser for Windows and Linux, and in macOS the new function will appear before the end of September.
