HP presented folding computer Specter Fold. The company claims that this is the smallest and thinnest such device on the market.
This is a 3-in-1 device, which also sets it apart from its competitors. So, it has a built-in stand that allows you to use it as a PC and a flexible screen to turn it into a 12.3-inch laptop. And for tablet mode, there is a stylus and keyboard that come included and can be charged directly on the device via a wireless network.
The transformer is equipped with a 17-inch OLED touch display with a resolution of 2.5K (1920 x 2560), an aspect ratio of 3:4 and a maximum brightness of 400 nits (SDR) or 500 nits (HDR). The screen has received IMAX Enhanced certification.
Hardware includes a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics, along with 16GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. The dual 94.3 Wh battery pack provides 12 hours of battery life in laptop mode and 11 hours in desktop mode. Out of the box, the transformer runs on Windows 11.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4 are also on board.
The thickness of the Specter Fold is 8.5 millimeters. The gap when folded is 3 millimeters. It can be used as a place for the keyboard, where it will not only be stored, but also charged.
Prices and Availability
The HP Specter Fold will go on sale in the US at the end of October. The company promises to bring it to other countries this fall.
The device was valued at $5,000 (≈480,000 rubles), and is the most expensive folding computer on the market. For comparison: Zenbook Fold 17 costs $3,500 (≈337,000 rubles), and Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Gen 2 costs $2,500 (≈240,000 rubles).
