The owner of the land and the amateur archaeologist will share the big jackpot.
Norwegian Erlend Bore using a metal detector discovered on the private island of Rennesoy there is a cache with a collection of ancient jewelry. In the archaeological community, the treasure has already been called the “find of the century.”
And for good reason - this is the largest gold cache found in Norway this century. And we are talking about nine gold pendants resembling coins, ten gilded pearls and three gold rings. Their total weight is about 100 grams.
Finding so much gold at once is extremely unusual.

Experts believe that these jewels were hidden during the Great Migration of the Roman Empire - somewhere in 500 AD. This means that they are approximately 1500 years old.
The 51-year-old amateur archaeologist conducted the exploration of the island at the request of its owner. Now they can both count on a reward. In Norway, the jackpot in such cases is divided equally between the one who found the treasure and the one who owns the land on which it was found. Experts are now assessing the approximate cost of the artifacts.
