Some hospitals have already begun to use the system.
The AIDA diagnostic assistant based on artificial intelligence has already began help internists and general practitioners make the main final diagnosis for adult patients. The system was developed at SberMedII together with the Sber Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and the Moscow Government.
"AIDA" analyzes data from the patient's electronic medical record: dates of appointments, complaints, anamnesis, medical histories, results of examinations and tests, as well as other text data. Next, the model checks whether this data corresponds to a set of 95 most common and significant diagnoses.
It works like this. When the doctor determines the diagnosis, the AI simultaneously analyzes the patient’s medical record and makes its diagnosis. If they match, the doctor receives a message that the service agrees with his decision. If the diagnoses are different, the specialist will also receive a notification. In this case, the final decision is always up to the doctor: the system is used as insurance and an independent second opinion.
The assistant was trained by Moscow doctors using records of 30 million patient visits over 2 years. During an experiment involving 38 doctors of the highest category and the status of “Moscow Doctor,” the service demonstrated an accuracy of more than 87% in determining the 95 most common diagnoses.
Currently, AIDA is already being used in pilot mode in 24 clinics in Moscow. By the end of September it will be implemented in all adult clinics in the capital.
