The emphasis in new phones is on improving the quality and capabilities of communications.
Huawei company presented an improved version of the recently released Mate 60 Pro - Mate 60 Pro+ model. And restarted your folding flagship Mate X3. The updated version is called Mate X5.
Huawei Mate 60 Pro+
The design and characteristics of the new device are almost completely identical to the younger firmware - the same triple cutout in the screen for the camera and sensors, similar 6.82-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2720 x 1260 pixels and a 5,000 mAh battery with 88-watt recharge. And there's also 20W reverse wireless charging if you need to share the power with other gadgets.
There is also nothing new inside - the Mate 60 Pro+ runs on the Kirin 9000s SoC. Even the dimensions remained unchanged, even though this is the older model: 164 x 79 x 8.1 millimeters. Weight - 225 grams.
But there is still a difference between the models. For example, the new product has a larger SSD capacity: 16 GB (compared to 12 GB on the Pro). Built-in memory ranges from 512 GB to 1 TB. The storage can be expanded using Huawei's proprietary NM card (up to 256 GB).
The camera has changed almost completely. The main module now has 48 megapixels (the Pro has 50 megapixels), a lens with OIS support and a variable aperture (f/1.4-f/4.0). It is joined by a periscope with a 48 MP sensor and a 90 mm f/3.0 lens with optical image stabilization. Finally, the ultra-wide-angle camera has been upgraded to 40 MP.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 with LDAC and L2HC codecs. NFC and IR transmitter are also on board.
The main unique feature of the Mate 60 Pro+ is support for voice calls via the Tiantong satellite. However, there are no details about this feature yet.
Sales of Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ are expected to begin on October 9. The price of the smartphone is not disclosed. According to some reports, its price will be 9,000 yuan (approximately 120,000 rubles). For reference: Mate 60 Pro with a capacity of 12/512 GB costs 7,000 yuan (about 94,000 rubles).
Huawei Mate X5
Another unexpected release from the company was the Mate X5, which is exactly like the Mate X3. However, the new product still offers several improvements.
The device has an internal 7.85-inch flexible screen (2496 × 2224, LTPO, 120 Hz) and a 6.4-inch external display (LTPO, 120 Hz, Full HD+ 2504 × 1080 pixels) with Kunlun Glass protective glass. Everything here is the same as its predecessor.
The camera island on the rear panel has a slightly redesigned design, but they themselves remain unchanged - at 50, 13 and 12 megapixels, and for selfies there is an 8-megapixel sensor.
The first noticeable difference is Huawei's all-new Lingxi antenna design, which is said to provide improved signal reception. It is created on the basis of AI and automatically selects the optimal network, thereby providing better communication. Additional antennas around the body of the device are equipped with dual-mode tuning technology for even better signal quality.
In addition, the Mate X5 boasts a larger battery, now with a capacity of 5,060 mAh. It supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Instead of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, the device uses the Kirin 9000s SoC. Another interesting difference was the additional color - Phantom Purple.
The phone runs on HarmonyOS 4. This system, among other things, offers new gesture controls, allowing you to view videos, web pages and images without touching the main display.
Mate X5 is also IPX8 waterproof and supports BeiDou two-way satellite messaging (China only).
Sales of the new product will start on September 15. Its cost has not yet been disclosed.
