5 reasons to start preparing for the exam and the exam in September
Miscellaneous / / September 05, 2023
It will be much easier to create a comfortable schedule and reduce stress levels.
1. You can easily choose the items to be handed over
In the exams that are required for the final certification, graduates hand over several items. In the OGE, which is waiting for all ninth graders, included compulsory disciplines - Russian language and mathematics - and two more subjects of the student's choice. It can be foreign languages, physics, literature, geography, chemistry, biology, history, social studies, computer science. Each student eventually takes four exams.
The USE, which is waiting for graduates of the 11th grade, is also mandatory includes mathematics and Russian. And this is the minimum required to obtain a certificate. A student can take two more disciplines voluntarily.
Typically, students choose those subjects that will help them study after school. If we are talking about admission to a particular university, then the future applicant will know in advance which exam results he will need. That is, the definition of disciplines for the USE is actually the choice of a professional direction.
You can talk a lot about the fact that it is worth deciding on a profession, as well as a university or college, not at the end of the year, but much earlier. But it is the choice of subjects for exams that will help not to postpone an important decision. You can safely think about options for further study throughout September, but it is worth setting a deadline. For example, no later than the first Monday in October, the choice must be made.
2. There is time for knowledge assessment and lesson planning
When the student chooses which exams he will take, you can proceed as follows. First, arrange a test for yourself by finding questions with the correct answers for the Unified State Examination or the OGE for the past year. Then allocate time, take a list and try to solve each task. You can give this, for example, a week. And then check what happened.
As a rule, some questions will not require much thought - the student will answer them without problems. Hence, these topics can be given less attention. But for sure there will be tasks that seem difficult.
When the first test is completed, it is worth making a table. It can be divided into four columns:
- Easy and well-known topics. They are understandable tasks easy to solve, you just need to refresh your knowledge a little.
- Topics that cause little difficulty. They are worth repeating, looking for additional examples, but in general you should not worry about them.
- Difficult topics. The student understands how to solve problems or answer questions, if before that he carefully reads the relevant theoretical section and analyzes the examples. It is not easy, but the student is able to cope on his own.
- Very difficult topics. It’s hard to figure them out on your own, so you should think about additional courses or classes with a tutor.
If you conduct such an audit for each examination subject, then you can draw up a plan for preparing for the exams. The student, together with his parents, will decide which topics he will analyze and repeat himself, and which will require help. If you do this no later than October, there will be time to calmly choose preparatory online courses or look for tutors.
3. You can create a comfortable training schedule and evenly distribute the load
Do not forget that, in addition to preparing for the final certification, the student will have to learn new topics at school. household chores and hobby also require time and effort. Therefore, during the first month, additional classes in mathematics and the Russian language can be built into the schedule. And then, from October, add other items.
It is worth making a list of all the topics that need to be repeated, and determine how much time each will take. Most likely, the student will need the help of parents or teachers for this. Then you can make a fairly comfortable training schedule, which will include both current studies and extra classes.
4. There will be no extra stress
The preparations will almost certainly not go as planned. Some tasks will be too difficult, and the seasonal flu or other force majeure circumstances may affect the schedule. Yes, and current training tasks can also add stress.
During the holidays, it is better for a student to relax, rather than continue training. Otherwise, you may not have time to restore strength and get burned out. In addition, he may need one or more mini-vacations, when he will perform only current tasks and not remember the exam or the exam.
And if the student starts preparing in advance, then he will have enough room to maneuver: it is much easier to lay a margin of time at the beginning of the year than in winter or spring. It will also be possible to adjust the schedule and allocate days for rest when necessary. After all, the closer to the exams, the stricter the schedule will be. This means that the likelihood of overload, stress and burnout will greatly increase.
5. You can save on tutors and courses
In autumn, tutors draw up their schedule for the year. They have more open windows for classes, and the price per hour can be less than in winter and especially in spring. Therefore, you can calmly choose the right specialist and agree with him on a long-term job.
In September - October, it is also easier to sign up for a trial lesson with a tutor to determine if this teacher is right for you. In February, and especially in April, he may have many students, and it will be more difficult to arrange such an activity.
The choice of online courses for preparing for the Unified State Examination and the OGE in the fall is also greater. You can compare several different offers and find the right one for you. Short emergency courses can cost more.
Of course, on the first of September, you can not think about preparing for final exams. But remembering them after the first week of school is the time.
