Parked until new sunrise over the south pole of the moon.
The Indian rover Pragyan completed a two-week program of research and experiments, after which it was translated into sleep mode. They will try to wake him up on the next lunar day, September 22, 2023.
Now a moonlit night is beginning on the satellite, which lasts almost 15 Earth days. The upper layers of the soil freeze to -170 ° C, complete darkness sets in, so no manipulations are possible there.
The rover's battery is fully charged, and the solar panel is already oriented to receive light at the next sunrise. The Pragyan receiver remains on. The Indian Space Agency hopes that the craft will survive the moonlit night and wake up successfully to perform new experiments and tests.
In total, during the mission, Pragyan walked about 100 meters on the Moon, took a number of photos and spent soil analysis, finding in it aluminum, calcium, iron, chromium, titanium, manganese and silicon.
