What is sea battle
Sea battle is a game designed for two people. Each participant draws a field of 10 by 10 cells, numbered vertically and alphabetically horizontally, and places 10 ships of different sizes there. Players take turns naming coordinates on the enemy's map in an attempt to knock out and then "sink" the enemy ship.
The goal of the game is to destroy the entire enemy fleet as quickly as possible. Accordingly, the one who manages to do it first wins.
Sea battle is a fairly simple entertainment that does not require special knowledge and devices. All you need is two checkered pieces of paper and two pens or a pair of pencils. True, there are several tricks in the placement of ships and tactics for defeating the enemy fleet that help win.
How to draw a playing field
It is most convenient to play on notebook sheets in a cage. Each participant must draw a square with a length and width of 10 cells. From the left edge, you need to number the cells from 1 to 10 from top to bottom. Above the upper border of the square, letters from "A" to "K" are written from left to right, while "Yo" and "Y" are usually skipped.
Nearby it is necessary to draw another similar field - the "sea" of the enemy. Here, the participants will record their moves: when they hit an enemy ship, a cross is placed in the cage, and a dot when they miss.
What ships to place on the field
As we said, each player's fleet consists of 10 ships:
- 1 battleship - a four-deck ship that occupies 4 cells of the field;
- 2 cruisers - three-deck, occupying 3 cells each;
- 3 destroyers - two-deck ships occupying 2 cells each;
- 4 boats - single-deck vessels, indicated by 1 cell.
The ships are placed on the playing field in any desired order. In this case, the cell decks should be located one by one in a straight line. Ships cannot touch either sides or corners. There must be at least one empty space between ships. In this case, you can press them to the boundaries of the playing field.
How to play sea battle
The right of the first move is usually determined by lot - for example, you can toss coin.
The player names the coordinates of the "shot" - the letter on top and the number on the left (say, "B3"), and then on his sheet puts a dot in the corresponding cell on the opponent's field. The other participant checks if his ship is in this cell. In case of a miss, he puts a point in this place and makes his move.
If the shot hit a multi-deck ship, the player says "Wounded!". Both put a cross in the corresponding cell, and the shooter makes one more move, trying to hit the ship. If this fails, both players put a dot in the named cell, and then the opponent proceeds.
When hitting a boat or the last square in a multi-deck ship, the affected player says "Killed!". Both participants mark the sunken ship with crosses, and the shooter makes one more move.
Remember that at the beginning games it is forbidden to place ships so that they are in contact with walls or corners. Therefore, when an enemy ship is defeated, you can safely mark the cells around it with dots so as not to aim at them and not waste moves.
The game continues until one of the participants sinks the entire fleet of the opponent.
How to win a sea battle
This will help the special tactics of defeating the alien fleet and the cunning placement of their own ships.
Shoot diagonally
Start the game by looking for the largest ship - a four-deck battleship. Firstly, it is the easiest to find, and secondly, when sinking, it will be possible to immediately mark 14 cells around the ship and no longer aim at them.
The battleship can be found in no more than 24 shots if you aim at the cells along the diagonals marked on picture. The number in the cell is the order of the move.
Don't forget to mark the cells around the found battleship with dots so you don't have to aim at them again, and start searching for cruisers and destroyers. You will also need to walk along the diagonals marked in the picture with red crosses.
Mark the squares around each ship you find. When you determine the location of all large ships, the most difficult thing remains - to find 4 single-deck boats. And here you already have to rely on luck, because there is no specific tactic for successfully searching for cell ships.
Place capital ships along the field borders
A found ship in the center of the field, especially a large one, makes life easier for the enemy, because he immediately determines a large number of cells around the ship, where you no longer need to aim. For example, 14 squares can be immediately marked along the perimeter of a battleship, in which there are definitely no other ships. But if the same four-deck is placed in a corner, it will be surrounded by only six points.
Thus, by placing large ships along the walls of the field, you leave more space for the placement of single-deck ones, which are the most difficult to find. Large ships can be placed in three ways. Each of them will have 60 free cells in order to anchor your boats.
Even if you place capital ships in the same way every time, and the enemy sees through your strategy, he still cannot win in two counts. We repeat, the search for randomly spaced single-deck boats is a matter Good luck.
