High ratings and positive reviews did not save the project.
Hulu has decided to cancel The Great with Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. The comedy about the reign of the Russian Empress Catherine the Great will not continue, although the creator of the project, Tony McNamara, expected to release six parts of the show.
Western media are perplexed, prompting the streaming service to cancel the comedy, which has received generally positive reviews and seven Emmy Award nominations since its release in 2020. Fanning has received numerous awards for her performance, including a SAG Award, a Critics' Choice Award, an Independent Spirit Award, and two Golden Globe nominations.
The third season of "The Great" was released on Hulu in May and also received high ratings from viewers and critics. On IMDB, the latest episode of the project has a rating of 8.1, and the overall rating of the series is even higher - 8,2/10.
