UN study reveals who will be deprived of work by neural networks
Miscellaneous / / August 22, 2023
Managers and employees of commerce will have much more luck than ordinary office workers.
As a result of the new researchconducted by the International Labor Organization (an institution controlled by the UN), generative neural networks will not be able to completely replace people. Instead, they automate part of the routine, leaving people more time for other tasks.
Ordinary office work will be the most affected, and this could hit women's employment hard as there are significantly more men in this sector, especially in richer countries. The fact is that generative neural networks capable of creating text, images, sounds, animations, 3D models and other data will be able to take on about a quarter of the tasks of clerks.
We are talking specifically about office employees, while the tasks of managers and employees of sales departments are subject to automation to a much lesser extent. But even so, the introduction of AI can have “harsh” consequences for employees, from whom neural networks will take away part of the tasks. And the authors of the study urge politicians to pay attention to the changes that await people due to the development of technology.
