The sale of vapes with flavors and other additives will be banned from March 1, 2024. About it write "Izvestia" with reference to the draft government decree.
The Ministry of Health has already listed all the additives, the liquids with which should disappear from stores. The list included:
- food flavors: fruits and vegetables, vegetable flavors and their derivatives - vanilla, spices, ginger, cinnamon;
- sweeteners: molasses, honey, stevia, maple syrup, agave syrup;
- other additives: caffeine, guarana, taurine, medicines, dietary supplements and vitamins C, E, amino acids.
An explanatory note to the law banning vapes notes that they are aggressively promoted as "safer", "tastier" and "smokeless" alternatives to regular cigarettes. This marketing tactic helps to attract new consumers, in particular minors who are accustomed to nicotine, deputies are sure.
The Association of Retail Companies (AKORT, unites the largest networks in the Russian Federation) opposes the bill, since in fact it will lead to a complete ban on the circulation of vapes, because flavors are their integral part.
Previously, it was believed that the ban on sales would come into effect as early as September 1, but on this day, the government only gets the right to determine the list of additives with which vapes cannot be sold. They will have to be removed from the shelves from March 1.
