Streaming service Amazon has canceled the sci-fi series Peripherals after its first season. How figured out Variety magazine, work on the sequel was curtailed, among other things, due to strikes in Hollywood.
The source of the publication noted that even if filming resumed in the near future, new episodes would still not be released before 2025. The studio decided not to risk success, but simply completely abandon this asset and never return to it. Although back in February 2023, the show was officially renewed for a second season.
Peripherals is based on the novel of the same name by science fiction author William Gibson. The plot tells about a girl who has become a tester of the latest VR headset. Over time, she realizes that the events in the virtual world are far from a game.
The main role in the show was played by Chloe Grace Moretz ("Kick-Ass"). It was shot by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who previously worked on Westworld.
