The best of both worlds: a Windows console with detachable controllers like the Nintendo Switch.
Lenovo is working on Legion Go portable game console, and reporters from Windows Report managed get a promotional photo of the console before the official announcement.
From the main competitors among Windows set-top boxes (this, of course, Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally and consoles Ayaneo) Lenovo's development is separated by one important feature: removable controllers a la Nintendo Switch joycons.
It seems that the creators decided to collect the best chips from existing portables in one gadget. In addition to the main feature of the Nintendo Switch, the new Legion Go borrowed the location of the main buttons and sticks from ROG Ally, received an enlarged screen (about 8 inches - even more than the Asus console), and Steam Deck spied a small trackpad on the front side.
Based on the published images, the back of the console has a fairly standard set of triggers and buttons on the top and sides. Also on the case you can see a pair of USB-C connectors, a power button, a headphone jack, volume keys and a microSD slot. Interestingly, on the side of the right controller, a wheel was hidden, like a mouse.
The exact specs are not yet known, but Windows Report is reporting Windows 11 and a new generation AMD Phoenix processor. Release dates are also not reported, but the presence of promotional images hints that the announcement may take place soon.
