Xiaomi introduced the CyberDog 2 robot. He really looks like a small dog

At the presentation on August 14 Xiaomi showed Not only smartphone, tablet And smart bracelet, but also the second generation of the CyberDog robot, submitted in 2021. As before, this is a four-legged robot that resembles a dog, but its appearance and filling have changed significantly.

If the first generation looked like a Chinese copy of a robot spot from Boston Dynamics, the second has more personality. He received a completely redesigned body with more pronounced “paws” and a head with ears that really resembles a dog.

CyberDog 2 is also lighter and smaller than the first version. He weighs only 8.9, height - 36.7 cm (against 14 kg and 40 cm, respectively). The mobility of the robot has grown due to the CyberGear microdrives, developed by Xiaomi itself. They make the robops more flexible and able to perform more complex maneuvers like consecutive back flips and tuck after a fall. This version can run at a speed of 1.6 m/s.

During the presentation, Xiaomi focused on the intelligent system of the robot, which is responsible for the built-in NX processor with a dual coprocessor. Environment tracking and decision making is powered by an improved Fusion system consisting of 19 sensors - including a fisheye camera, a depth sensor, LiDAR and ToF sensors. They replace CyberDog 2's vision, touch and hearing, helping to navigate in space.

The robot can also be used instead of a smart home hub: control lighting, household appliances and other appliances through it. True, this will require knowledge of Chinese: everything works through the XiaoAI voice assistant.

Like the first generation, this is an open source machine. This allows enthusiasts to experiment with the robot and add features to it that are not provided by the developers.

Xiaomi CyberDog 2 was priced at 12,999 yuan (≈176,700 rubles). For comparison, the first generation cost 9,999 yuan (≈135,100 rubles).
