Xiaomi showed a folding smartphone Mix Fold 3 with a Leica camera

After the annual speech of the head of Xiaomi Lei Jun, the company introduced a number of new gadgets. The main novelty was the folding smartphone Mix Fold 3, the design of which is officially uncovered last week.

For its class, the smartphone turned out to be thin: 5.26 mm when opened and 10.96 mm when folded (excluding the camera island). The hinge in this generation has become more reliable: it consists of 198 moving elements, while the previous one consisted of 87. This made it possible to make the smartphone thinner without sacrificing structural strength: it can withstand 500,000 bends.

The screen is fixed at an angle from 45° to 135°. Speaking of the screen, it uses an 8.03-inch E6 OLED on the inside and a 6.56-inch on the outside. Both have 2K+ resolution, native brightness up to 1300 nits and peak brightness up to 2600 nits. The outer screen is covered with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protective glass, and the inner screen is covered with ultra-thin UTG protection (0.03 mm).

As befits the flagships of 2023, the novelty received a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. According to manufacturer's tests, compared to Huawei Mate X3 (Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G) Xiaomi's new product is 1°C cooler in an hour of everyday use, and the frame rate in heavy games is 5 fps higher (57.32 vs. 52 fps on average per hour of play). Unlike the Huawei smartphone, the Mix Fold 3 also supports 5G.

The main camera consists of a 50MP main module (Sony IMX800), a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 10MP portrait telephoto lens (Samsung S5K3K1) and a 10MP periscope telephoto lens (Samsung S5K3K1). The lenses are Leica Summicron certified. There are two selfie cameras, both of which have a resolution of 20 megapixels.

The 4800 mAh battery, consisting of two blocks, supports wired charging at 67 W and wireless at 50 W. Xiaomi claims that in terms of autonomy, the novelty bypasses folding smartphones from other brands. To do this, Mix Fold 3 was compared with 4 unnamed models in a benchmark that gives a high load. After 5 hours, the Xiaomi novelty has 11% of the charge left, while the other tested models have from 8% to 1%. Under conditions of normal use, the smartphone will be able to work for 1.34 days.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will be available in two colors: gold with frosted glass on the back and black with leather texture. Prices are already known:

• 12 + 256 GB - 8999 yuan (≈126,400 rubles);
• 16 + 512 GB - 9999 yuan (≈140,400 rubles);
• 16 GB + 1 TB - 10,999 yuan (≈154,500 rubles).

The release in China will take place on August 16, the release of the international version has not yet been announced.
