Already this month, the device will try to lower a research rover to the surface of the satellite.
The Indian lunar station Chandrayaan-3 has successfully entered an elliptical lunar orbit. About it in social networks informed Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), supplementing the publication with satellite footage.
On the frames you can see the craters that literally dot the surface of the moon.
In the near future, Chandrayaan-3 will conduct a series of orbital maneuvers that will gradually reduce the orbit. Next, the separation of the landing module with the lunar rover from the propulsion system and the subsequent landing on the moon should take place - it is scheduled for August 23.
If the landing is successful, ISRO will become the fourth space agency in the world to land on the moon, after the USSR, the United States and China.
The Chandrayaan-3 automated interplanetary station was launched on an LVM3 rocket on July 14 from the launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Center, located on the island of Sriharikota.
The station includes a lander, a lunar rover and a flight module. The latter will be near the Moon from 3 to 6 months. The descent rover is equipped with research equipment for chemical analysis of the surface of the Earth's natural satellite.
