Podcast "Listen, it's easy": what is the dopamine trap and how not to fall into it
Miscellaneous / / August 04, 2023
We understand what the insidiousness of dopamine is and whether special “starvation” helps to resist it.
The Good Dreams message looks very romantic and touching. But those same dreams, it is likely to push away. This conclusion was reached by a group of psychiatrists from Duke and Yale universities.
The researchers analyzed 120 million messages that 44 thousand users of the Reddit social network left over 15 years, and discovered that if a person writes something on the Web about an hour before he usually goes to bed, then he is unlikely to settle down in the next hour or three. And if he publishes several posts, he will fall asleep even later. There is an assumption that the whole thing is to increase the level of dopamine. It grows when people wait for answers, likes and comments. This makes it difficult to relax and sleep peacefully.
Dopamine generally plays an important role in regulating our behavior. On the one hand, it helps us achieve our goals, on the other hand, it can lure us into a trap. Listen to the new episode to find out more about all this.
