The picture will be released on July 29, but not in Russia.
On the YouTube channel of the Fantasia International Film Festival competition, a trailer for the film "Empire V", based on the novel of the same name by Viktor Pelevin, was published. This is a story about an ordinary guy named Roma, who suddenly finds out that people have been secretly ruled by vampires for a long time.
The main role was played by Pavel Tabakov ("Young Man"). The project was directed by Viktor Ginzburg, who previously filmed another Pelevin novel, Generation P.
The Empire V movie was supposed to be released in cinemas at the end of 2021, but later the release was postponed and several times changed release dates. Now there is no official premiere date in Russia, but the film will be shown abroad on July 29 - as part of the Fantasia Film Festival.
At the end of March the picture leaked on torrents, but director Viktor Ginzburg reported that a stolen draft version of the film had been leaked to the Web. He promised to publish the finished film himself if the film was never issued a distribution certificate.
