For Emoji Day (celebrated on July 17), the creators of the Facemoji keyboard shared the top symbols most frequently sent by iOS and Android app users from June 2022 to June 2023.
The most common symbol turned out to be a crying face (😭). Perhaps the reason is its versatility: it can be used to indicate a real cry, and to express relief, request or gratitude.
In the second and third places, variations of laughter to tears are 🤣 and 😂. Also in the top ten there are 4 symbols with hearts at once. Here are the 20 most popular emojis:
The presence of the Argentine flag in the Facemoji top is associated with the victory of the national team in the 2022 World Cup, and a stone idol from Easter Island (🗿) with its popularity among the Japanese when they write about pop culture. It is usually used to express strength or determination, as well as to express stupor.
