Back in 2021, Microsoft first revealed 3D emoji to replace flat and outdated emoji in Windows. However, they are approaching the release only now: they appeared in the Windows Insider Preview Build (25905).
The new emoji are very similar to those introduced to Microsoft Teams in early 2022. Due to the gradient, they look more voluminous than the emoji that are used in Windows 11 now. Here is a visual comparison of emoticons at the start of Windows 11, volume versions and those that are available in the system now:
It is noted that with the advent of new emoji in Windows 11, they will also become available in some applications and browsers - but the exact list has not yet been specified.
For now, only members of the Windows Insider program can try out the new emoji design. Probably, these emoticons will be added to the stable version of the system in one of the future Moments updates.
