In the city, you are unlikely to find a really dangerous plant, but indigestion is easy enough to get. The question arises: why plant such crops at all? But here everything is simple: they There is its purpose. For example, some shrubs, such as privet, are suitable as hedge. But eating their fruits is not worth it.
In the forest, swallowing wild unfamiliar berries is even more threatening, because no one monitors their safety there, and it will be more difficult to get medical help.
What happens if you eat wolfberry
The effect depends on the plant. Some of them, such as privet, when taken orally cause stomach upset. And their juice can cause burns to the eyes and face.
Others, like belladonna, contain biologically active substances such as atropine. It causes heart failure hallucinations and respiratory failure and can lead to death. At the same time, the berries are sweet and may appeal to children, and you only need to eat them.
In each locality, wolfberries will differ from each other due to climate and botanical diversity. Just don't eat anything you're not sure about.
What to do if you or your child ate a wolfberry
The action plan is similar to first aid for any poisoning.
Call an ambulance
At first call to the ambulance or to the medical reference number 122. Explain what exactly you ate and talk about how you feel. The operator will tell you if you need help and how to get to it - by ambulance or on your own. It will also explain whether you can somehow reduce the damage on your own, for example, call vomit.
If you already have any symptoms, you should not hesitate to call in any case.
Take a photo of a plant
Just in case take a picture plant and - close-up - leaves with berries, so that it is easier for the doctor to understand what exactly you ate. This is important because some berries cause not only indigestion, but also heart problems. This will depend on the treatment strategy.
Do not be nervous and do not let the child run
The faster the heart beats, the earlier the poison will fall into the bloodstream. Therefore, it is very important to try to remain calm.
