Google Chat is being turned into a full-fledged messenger

Now on the platform you can edit messages, quote interlocutors and hide old chats. Other opportunities will appear before the end of the month.
Google Chat introduced a number of new features that make the service similar to Telegram or any other modern messenger, where they have been available for a long time.
So, users finally have the opportunity to delete and edit messages. The option works in the same way as on other platforms: you need to press and hold the text, and then select the desired option in the pop-up context menu.
Also on the platform, you can now quote interlocutors so that the context is not lost in loaded group chats. In addition, it became possible to hide old correspondence.
These options are already available to all Google Chat users. To use them, you just need to update the application on your smartphone or computer.
But the expansion of functionality does not end there. In the coming weeks, Google promises to add read receipts in group chats and the ability to add hyperlinks to messages (though only on the web version and on Android smartphones).
There should also be a tool called Smart Compose based on artificial intelligence. It is already available in Gmail, where it helps to write letters faster - the neural network offers recommendations as you type. So far, this function only works with five languages, and Russian is not among them.
