One important contraindication is unrealistic expectations.
What are lipolytics
Lipolitics are drugs that are injected into the subcutaneous fat by injection and help remove local fat deposits.
They can consist of a whole cocktail of organic substances. As a rule, lipolytics contain:
- Phosphatidylcholine - the main phospholipid in the human body, which emulsifies fat. That is, it breaks it into small particles that are excreted from the body through the circulatory system.
- Sodium deoxycholate - a component of bile that plays an important role in the digestion of fats in the intestines. This substance destroys adipocyte membranes, causing the death of fat cells.
Also, lipolytics may contain other substances, such as L‑carnitine, caffeine, yohimbine, for accelerated fat transport. As well as artichoke and ginkgo biloba extract to stimulate lymph flow and reduce swelling.
After injection of the fat cell wall are destroyed, which causes their death and reduces the amount of deposits. The process ends with the migration of fibroblasts - connective tissue cells - and stimulates the accumulation of collagen in the treated area.
What are lipolytics used for?
Lipolitics are used to locally remove deposits on the face and body. As a rule, these are “fat pockets” in the following areas:
- in the lower part of the face and chin area (double chin);
- on the cheekbones and cheeks;
- in the region of the seventh cervical vertebra ("widow's hump");
- on the back and inner surface of the shoulders, above the elbows;
- in the upper back;
- in the "breeches" zone and above the knees;
- on stomach;
- on the thighs and buttocks.
It should be noted that lipolytics are not used for weight loss and do not replace diet and exercise. They only reduce the fat layer in the treated area.
Who should try lipolytics
Lipolitics can be advised to those who are generally satisfied with their weight, but at the same time want to improve the appearance of certain areas. For example, to return a clear line of cheekbones and chin, remove wrinkles in the upper back, reduce tuberosity on the hips and buttocks.
One of the contraindications to the procedure is unrealistic expectations. In other words, if you have a large excess weight, lipolytics will not return you harmony.
For high-quality weight loss, you need to apply an integrated approach with lifestyle changes, and injectable drugs only correct minor local problems.
Who should not use lipolytics
In addition to unrealistic expectations, contraindications to the procedure are:
- local infections or skin problems at the injection site;
- taking anticoagulants;
- immunodeficiency;
- hormonal problems - hypothyroidism, polycystic ovary syndrome;
- pregnancy and lactation.
It is also not recommended to carry out the procedure during an exacerbation of chronic diseases.
How is the procedure
To begin with, the doctor evaluates the thickness of the fat fold, then applies a local anesthetic and special markings. injections performed at a distance of 1 cm from each other in the manner of a lattice to evenly cover the entire area.
One injection contains about 0.2-0.3 ml of the drug. The total volume of the administered lipolytic depends on its composition and the size of the treated area, but does not exceed 100 ml.
Since the drugs are not injected into skin, and into the fat below it, the needle is inserted deeper than during mesotherapy: 5–6 mm for the face and 10–12 mm for the body.
After the injections, the doctor makes a light massage to evenly distribute the lipolytic in the tissues. The whole procedure takes about 15-20 minutes.
How is recovery going?
Often after the procedure observed burning at the injection site, redness, pain and swelling. They can disturb a person from two days to two weeks, depending on personal characteristics and the composition used.
To relieve discomfort, dry cooling compresses and local anti-inflammatory drugs are used. A specific remedy will be advised by a beautician after the procedure.
In the first two weeks after injections, it is not advised to visit the bathhouse, swimming pool and sauna, engage in active physical exercises, and sunbathe.
If lipolytics were injected into the body, do not wear tight clothing that can compress the affected area. At the same time, it is advised to wear compression underwearbecause it exerts uniform pressure.
Also, the cosmetologist can recommend skin care products, hardware or lymphatic drainage massage to improve microcirculation.
Can there be complications due to lipolytics?
If the procedure is performed incorrectly, injections may cause complications.
- bruises and bruising at the site of exposure. This can happen if a blood vessel is hit during an injection.
- Damage to the mandibular nerve. The introduction of a lipolytic close to him may result in an asymmetrical smile.
- Skin ulcers. This can happen if the injection is made superficially - into the skin, and not subcutaneous fat.
- Severe pain at the site of exposure. If a lipolytic is accidentally injected into a muscle, it can cause partial tissue destruction and severe pain.
- Headache, nausea, diarrhea. Such complications occur with a single administration of more than 3 g of lipolytic.
To be sure to protect yourself from unpleasant consequences, contact only reliable clinics, specialists with special education and experience working with lipolytics.
How many sessions will it take and is it expensive
It must be understood that fat is broken down gradually, so that the first results will be noticeable only a few weeks after the injection. Moreover, one procedure is not enough to remove a significant amount of fat, and therefore they are carried out in a complex manner.
For example, in one study notedthat only 15% of patients were satisfied after the first procedure, and after the second - already 72.4%.
To achieve optimal volumes, 3 to 5 procedures are required at intervals of a month. If necessary, their number can be increased. For example, people over 60 years old more injections may be needed to correct cosmetic defects.
As for the cost, it all depends on the lipolytic and the zone of influence. As a rule, the cost of the drug varies from 1.5 to 2.5 thousand rubles per 1 ml. For the face, 5-8 ml may be enough, and for the stomach, back or hips, much more will be needed, up to 100 ml.
