Listen, It's Easy Podcast: What is assertiveness and how to politely but firmly defend personal boundaries with it
Miscellaneous / / June 28, 2023
People who know how to defend their interests are sometimes considered unpleasant, aggressive and assertive. But it is not always the case.
American scientists have carried out an interesting experiment with parrots. They recommended that bird owners arrange video calls with their pets so that the birds can communicate. It had a very good effect on them. Parrots stopped suffering from loneliness, preening more often, singing and playing.
Then people taught the birds to call their friends on their own to chirp about this and that. In general, in the wild, many parrots live in large flocks, so isolation is bad for their psyche, and video calls help to cope with loneliness.
For people, communication is also important. New study, which was conducted by scientists from the Universities of Vienna and Cambridge, showed that 8 hours of loneliness can also deplete energy and cause the same fatigue as 8 hours without food. Despite the fact that people cannot do without interacting with each other, not everyone knows how to build healthy communication. In the new issue, we'll figure out how to learn this.
