Chrome browser will learn how to share passwords
Miscellaneous / / June 28, 2023
The feature is still under development.
Twitter user Leopeva64, who specializes in analyzing the upcoming features of Chrome and Edge, published new post. It is dedicated to the redesigned password manager page found in Chrome Google Password Manager.
If you open any saved password, you will notice a new button: "Share". So far, pressing it is useless: nothing happens.
The author notes that this feature began to be developed back in February 2022. Then her hid to the context menu that opens when you click on the icon in the form of three dots, but the item itself was inactive, as it is now.
Probably because of the potential security risk of an unfinished function, it is tested completely internally, and only the interface is checked in an assembly available to enthusiasts.
It is not yet known exactly how the transfer of passwords will take place. It is likely that the function will rely on Google accounts and encrypted data transmission. The timing of its release has not yet been announced.
