Everything will be organic and in accordance with the book canon.
The first part of the third season of The Witcher comes to Netflix on June 29, and the second is expected on July 27. And this is the last season with Henry Cavill as Geralt: from the fourth season of his will replace Liam Hemsworth. IN interview For Yahoo News, series producers Tomasz Bagiński and Steve Gaub shed light on how this change would be explained in the script.
We have a great plan to introduce the new Geralt and Liam's new vision. I won't go into details because there are spoilers, but it will be very close to the meta ideas from the original books - especially the fifth one.
Tomas Bagiński
Producer of The Witcher
Bagiński seems to be referring to the fifth novel in Andrzej Sapkowski's witcher saga, The Lady of the Lake.
Beware: spoilers ahead
By the events of The Lady of the Lake, Ciri gains the ability to travel between worlds. When Geralt is mortally wounded during the battle and Yennefer cannot heal him, Ciri transports them to another world. Geralt and Yennefer come to life, but soon they part ways with Ciri. With a little tweaking, this could be a good plot explanation for why Geralt changed.
The creators note that in the fourth season they will not only replace Geralt, but also shift the focus to Ciri - again, in accordance with the book source. According to Baginski, starting with the novel Hour of Contempt (on which the third season is based), Ciri essentially becomes the main character of the saga. It is logical that the series will also have more Freya Allan, who plays the role of Ciri.
She [Allan] knew that this moment would come: that she would come to the fore and embody many important moments for the story on the screen.
