Explosive growth of Tecno: the most popular smartphone brands in Russia in 2023 are named

RBC edition with reference to Price.ru analysts called the most popular smartphone brands in Russia from January to May 2023. Hong Kong-based Tecno Mobile ranked first, with sales up 152% year-over-year.

Realme devices are on the second line, their popularity among Russians has grown by 38%. The top three are closed by OnePlus phones - plus 28%.

Demand for OPPO in the first five months grew by 22%, for Apple gadgets - by 14%. Interest in "apple" smartphones was caused primarily by the release of the iPhone 14 last fall, experts say.

Sales of Huawei phones also increased by 6%.

Top 5 brands looks like this:

1. Tecno (+152%).
2. Realme (+38%).
3. OnePlus (+28%).
4. OPPO (+22%).
5. Apple (+14%).

But the popularity of other well-known manufacturers, on the contrary, has decreased. Thus, the demand for Asus smartphones fell by 35%, Samsung - by 18%, Xiaomi - by 17%, Sony - by 13%.

In general, analysts note a decrease in the interest of Russians in new phones. In the first four months of 2023, smartphone searches are down 36% year-over-year. At the same time, in the previous two years, there was a steady increase in online demand for these devices.
