Xiaomi has stopped supporting 8 Redmi and Poco smartphones
Miscellaneous / / June 27, 2023
On June 25, Xiaomi released another update list smartphones with expired support. These devices will no longer receive firmware updates with new features, but may receive emergency security patches.
Here are the models on the list:
- Redmi 10X, 10X 4G, 10X Pro (China)
- Redmi Note 9 (Europe, India, Global Version)
- Redmi 9 (China)
- Redmi 9A (global version)
- Redmi K30i 5G (China)
- Poco F2 Pro (Global Version)
Notably, three smartphones from the list - Redmi 9, Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 10X 4G - should be get MIUI 14. But their support was discontinued before this update came out.
The reason for this move is unclear: at the beginning of the year, a test build of MIUI 14 for Redmi Note 9 leaked to the Web, and it was tested by members of the XiaomiUI community. In review celebratedthat the system runs smoother and more responsive on a smartphone than MIUI 13, while weighing 23% less. Moreover, the authors of XiaomiUI claimthat internal tests of MIUI 14 for Redmi 9 are still ongoing "on a daily basis".
There is a small chance that Xiaomi has updated the list of outdated devices ahead of time, but the owners of these smartphones should not have high hopes for getting MIUI 14.
