Rare parade of five planets expected on June 17
Miscellaneous / / June 16, 2023
We tell you where to look for them in the sky.
On the morning of Saturday, June 17, you can see a rare astronomical phenomenon - Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, Uranus and Mercury line up in one line.
Often this alignment is visible even to the naked eye. In this case, you need to look for it in the east, and best of all, an hour before sunrise (at about 03:30 Moscow time).
Jupiter will be the brightest, it will “hang” above the horizon. A little higher and to the right is Saturn, and lower and to the left is Mercury. These planets will be prominent enough to be seen without special equipment.
But with the search for Uranus and Neptune, problems may arise - they are dimmer and are further from the Earth. To see them for sure, it is better to get binoculars or a telescope.
Neptune will be located between Jupiter and Saturn, and Uranus - in the middle of Mercury and Jupiter.
All five planets will be in this order (from the horizon): Mercury, Uranus, Jupiter, Neptune, Saturn.
